Many Men.
Where is the couth?
Social media has made people believe it is okay to be a hater. I am scared!!
Now, do not get me wrong, fun shade is all up and through my group chats and I love reading the comments on Tik Tok, but I am starting to realize how easy it is for people to hate on something that has nothing to do with them. And by hate, I mean going out of their way to prevent you from going after your purpose.
You’re probably wondering what triggered this thought and I’ll tell you. I recently saw multiple posts from someone who is a creative stating that we do not need another podcast, yet they expect people to support their work. But if I said “I wish people would stop (insert shade here),” I would be wrong. Something about this sentiment just feels hypocritical to me, why do you think your art is more special than the next? I know for a fact social media has probably discouraged someone from launching something they think no one wants. Is it me Jesus?
What I am trying to say is, if it is in your heart, over-saturation does not exist. Are you really going to let someone who dream just like you, discourage you? There really is not anything new under the sun, until YOU do it. The conviction I felt with this realization almost made me cry because there were times I thought I was helping (I do not think they were trying to help), when in reality I could have made someone question their purpose.
All that to say, even with me encouraging you to go for it, everyone may not get it, but you never know whose life you will change by just doing it. God’s plan.
There are never too many successful Black Women in my book.
Crabs in a barrel mentality has no room here.
